Shell Advances 30 MW/60 MWh Battery Storage Project in the Philippines, Strengthening Grid Flexibility in Southeast Asia
Date:2026-08-21
The Philippines’ energy storage market is gaining momentum. Shell Energy Philippines is advancing its 30 MW/60 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Hermosa, Bataan, with the project’s engineering and long-term service arrangements now in place.
The project’s EPC contractor is Power Dimension, Inc., responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. The BESS will utilize Sungrow PowerTitan 3.0, while Sungrow’s Philippine team will provide long-term technical services and O&M support.
Beyond adding battery storage capacity, the project demonstrates how BESS can help strengthen the power system’s ability to respond to peak demand, fluctuations in electricity supply and demand, and the growing integration of renewable energy. As renewable energy projects continue to expand across the Philippines, energy storage is becoming an increasingly important link between renewable generation and grid stability.
Across the Philippines and Southeast Asia, the energy landscape is evolving rapidly. The growth of solar and wind power is creating greater demand for energy storage, grid modernization, power management, and intelligent energy solutions.
Looking ahead, Southeast Asia’s energy market is expected to expand beyond renewable power generation toward a more integrated energy ecosystem, including:
Solar PV Generation
Battery Energy Storage Systems
Smart Grids & Grid Flexibility
Power Conversion & Grid Integration
Energy Management & Digital Energy Solutions
ASEE 2027 will focus on the development of smart energy and energy storage across Southeast Asia, bringing together companies, professional buyers, investors, industry experts, and key stakeholders from the solar, energy storage, smart grid, EV charging, and integrated energy solutions sectors.
The exhibition provides an international platform for companies to enter the ASEAN market, connect with potential partners and buyers, and explore new opportunities across the region’s rapidly growing energy sector.
