Thailand’s Largest Rooftop Solar Project in the Northeast Enters Commercial Operation, Accelerating Green Industrial Transition

Date:2026-07-15

As global manufacturing moves toward a low-carbon future, renewable energy adoption is becoming a key driver for industrial transformation. SCG Cleanergy has officially announced the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of its large-scale rooftop solar project at Seagate Technology’s facility in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, marking one of the largest rooftop solar installations in Thailand’s northeastern region.

The project features a 20.96 MW rooftop solar system, covering more than 116,000 square meters of rooftop space. It is expected to generate approximately 29 million kWh of clean electricity annually and reduce over 14,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.

Supporting Thailand’s Sustainable Manufacturing Growth

The project demonstrates how industrial-scale solar solutions can help businesses:
  • Reduce carbon emissions and energy costs
  • Increase renewable energy utilization in manufacturing
  • Support corporate sustainability goals
  • Strengthen Thailand’s position as a green manufacturing hub

During the opening ceremony, Thailand’s Industry Minister highlighted that clean energy is not only essential for environmental protection, but also a key factor in enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness, attracting future industries, and supporting sectors such as:
  • Advanced electronics
  • Semiconductors
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Data centers
  • Electric vehicles (EVs)
