Thailand’s EGAT Highlights “Clean, Stable and Sufficient Power” Advantage, Upgrading Energy Infrastructure to Position Thailand as a Data Center Hub

Date:2026-06-24

Recently at the “Earth Jump 2026” event, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) reaffirmed that Thailand’s power system is fully capable of supporting future digital economic growth, highlighting its core strengths of clean, stable, and sufficient electricity to attract global data center investment.

EGAT emphasized that with the rapid expansion of AI and cloud computing industries, data centers have become a strategic national infrastructure priority, with strong potential to position Thailand as a leading data center hub in Southeast Asia.

At the same time, Thailand is actively upgrading its energy infrastructure, including grid expansion, green electricity mechanisms, and enhanced renewable energy integration capacity, in order to meet the continuously rising electricity demand.

EGAT also highlighted its ongoing efforts to promote clean energy through Utility Green Tariffs (UGT1 and UGT2) and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), while advancing grid modernization to improve system flexibility and stability, ensuring long-term reliable power supply for large-scale data center operations.

Thailand Market Opportunity: Accelerating Energy–Storage–Data Center Convergence

As data center investments accelerate in Thailand, demand for the following sectors is growing rapidly:
  • High-reliability power systems (Grid Stability)
  • Large-scale energy storage solutions
  • Renewable energy integration technologies
  • Industrial cooling and infrastructure systems
  • Smart energy management and digital grid technologies

East Water also confirmed the development of a 500+ km water pipeline network in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), providing stable water supply for data center cooling systems and further strengthening Thailand’s infrastructure readiness.

Gulf Development and the Private Power Producers Association (IPP) further emphasized that future data center development in Thailand will rely not only on electricity and water infrastructure, but also on advanced energy system design, digitalization, and a highly skilled workforce.

ASEE: Connecting Thailand’s Fast-Growing Energy and Data Center Market

Against the backdrop of Thailand’s accelerating transformation into a regional hub for data centers, clean energy, and smart storage systems, the ASEE platform will bring together key stakeholders across the value chain, including utilities, energy companies, storage providers, data center developers, and infrastructure suppliers.

It aims to accelerate collaboration, investment, and technology exchange across Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving energy transition landscape.
