Thailand Launches Rooftop Solar Incentives to Boost Renewable Energy
Date:2026-06-12
The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) under EGAT has announced a new rooftop solar incentive policy, aiming to accelerate the country’s renewable energy development and achieve over 30% renewable energy share by 2037.
Under the new policy, households and businesses installing rooftop solar systems can benefit from Feed-in Tariffs (FiT) and Net Metering. The program prioritizes commercial, industrial, and large-scale residential projects, while encouraging integration with energy storage systems to maximize self-consumption and grid stability.
DEDE highlights that this initiative will:
- Reduce electricity costs – Users can lower their bills through self-consumption and sell excess power back to the grid.
- Promote green energy investment – Attract domestic and international businesses to the rooftop solar sector.
- Enhance energy security & environmental protection – Reduce reliance on fossil fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
Rooftop solar is expected to play a key role in Thailand’s renewable energy transition, providing significant opportunities for companies in solar PV and energy storage markets.
In this favorable policy environment, ASEE 2027 – ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo will serve as a professional platform for showcasing technologies and connecting with the market. Don’t miss the chance to explore the growing opportunities in Thailand and Southeast Asia!
