Southeast Asia’s solar and energy storage market is rapidly transitioning from pilot projects to large-scale commercial deployment.
On May 26, Tianneng Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Zhejiang, China with a Philippines-based consortium of renewable energy, infrastructure, and financial partners.
The first phase of cooperation has already reached the 100MW-class level, with a long-term development roadmap targeting GW-scale renewable energy and energy storage projects.
The Philippine consortium includes leading local players such as CS First Green. The signing ceremony was witnessed by former Philippine Congressman Mikey Arroyo and Chairman Zhang Tianren of Tianneng Group.
Unlike traditional utility-scale power projects, this cooperation focuses on the development of distributed energy systems and microgrid applications.
As an archipelagic nation, the Philippines faces fragmented grid infrastructure and increasing demand for off-grid and island-based energy solutions.
Within this framework, Tianneng Group will provide customized microgrid energy storage systems ranging from 10MWh to 128MWh and above, designed for island and isolated grid scenarios.
Key Industry Trend
Southeast Asia is accelerating a structural shift from a solar installation market to a storage + microgrid system market.
Energy storage is no longer a supporting component but is increasingly becoming core energy infrastructure.
At the same time, consortium-based cooperation models—bringing together local developers, financial institutions, and international energy companies—are emerging as the dominant structure for project development across the region.
In the Philippines, this ecosystem is further strengthened through engagement with local industry and policy stakeholders, including the Philippine Energy Research and Policy Institute.
Against this backdrop, the ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo 2027 (ASEE 2027) continues to strengthen its position as a regional industry connectivity platform.
The Expo connects global energy companies with local developers, policy research institutions, and project pipelines across the Philippines and ASEAN, accelerating real commercial deployment.
