According to information from the official website of 宁德时代 (CATL), CATL and HyperStrong have signed a strategic cooperation agreement on sodium-ion battery energy storage in Ningde, Fujian. The two parties will collaborate on a 60GWh sodium-ion battery order over the next three years, marking the largest sodium-ion energy storage cooperation globally to date.
This partnership signals that sodium-ion batteries are entering a new phase of large-scale commercial deployment. Both companies will deepen cooperation in R&D, product applications, and project implementation, accelerating the adoption of sodium-ion technology in long-duration energy storage scenarios.
CATL stated that it has achieved significant breakthroughs in material systems, manufacturing processes, and system integration, improving energy density, wide-temperature performance, and overall system safety. The technology is also highly compatible with existing lithium battery supply chains, helping to reduce system costs and improve deployment efficiency.
