Thailand Accelerates Clean Energy & Storage Deployment
Date:2026-02-13
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $350 million loan to Gulf Renewable Energy (GRE) in Thailand, supporting the construction of two solar + BESS projects (total ~126MW) and a 68MW solar power plant.
This marks Southeast Asia’s first large-scale solar + storage procurement model, a milestone in Thailand’s energy transition. Key impacts include:
Increasing renewable energy share and deploying advanced energy storage
Reducing carbon emissions and supporting Thailand’s Net Zero 2050 strategy
Innovative financing, co-lending with international partners including DEG (Germany) and DFIC (Canada)
For energy players, this signals a market entering a phase of accelerated clean energy and smart power deployment, with storage, renewables, and direct corporate power supply as critical growth areas.
ASEE 2026 will focus on these opportunities, connecting regional energy projects, tech solution providers, and government stakeholders to explore the future of clean energy, storage, and digital infrastructure integration.
