Thailand' s data center investment surge is reshaping power demand in Southeast Asia
Date:2026-02-09
TikTok has confirmed over THB 270 billion in long-term investment in Thailand, focusing on data hosting and server infrastructure and positioning Thailand as a regional digital and content operations base.
The data hosting and server project alone has received BOI approval, with THB 127 billion in investment.
A clear signal is already visible: Thailand is entering a phase of high-density computing and high-intensity power demand.
Unlike traditional industries, data centers run 24/7 at high loads and require highly reliable, redundant and low-carbon power supply. Thailand’s Ministry of Finance and BOI have also identified energy security and infrastructure readiness as key conditions for future tech investment.
For energy and power solution providers looking to enter the Thai market, the priorities are clear:
· Build high-reliability power and energy storage solutions tailored for data centers
· Closely follow policies on corporate power procurement, direct power supply and green electricity mechanisms
· Design energy architectures for high-load, mission-critical operations, integrating storage and intelligent energy management
These are exactly the focus scenarios at ASEE 2026 – ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo, connecting energy solution providers with data center and digital infrastructure projects entering the Thai market.
