ASEAN’s Energy Transition Is Creating New Market Opportunities

Date:2026-08-28

ASEAN’s growing energy demand and commitment to decarbonization are reshaping the region’s energy market, creating new opportunities across renewable energy, energy storage and smart energy technologies.

Fossil fuels still account for around 83% of ASEAN’s energy mix, while most member states are working toward net-zero targets. Meeting future energy demand while reducing emissions will require major investment in new power generation, grid infrastructure and low-carbon technologies.

The region’s strong renewable resources and critical raw materials, including nickel, bauxite, tin and rare earth elements, further strengthen its position in the global clean energy transition. At the same time, policy reform, international investment and the development of a stable regulatory environment are expected to play an increasingly important role in unlocking this potential.

For the energy industry, this transition represents more than a climate challenge — it is opening a rapidly growing market for solar PV, battery energy storage systems, smart grids, power electronics, EV charging and integrated renewable energy solutions.

As Southeast Asia moves toward a more flexible, secure and low-carbon energy system, opportunities for technology providers, project developers, investors, EPCs, utilities and other industry players are expanding across the region.

ASEE – ASEAN Smart Energy & Energy Storage Expo 2027 will bring the industry together in Bangkok to explore these emerging opportunities and connect with key players shaping ASEAN’s next-generation energy market.

Date & Venue: 17–19 March 2027, IMPACT Exhibition Centre, Bangkok, Thailand
