Phase 6 of Grenergy’s Atacama Oasis hybrid project has commenced installation of a 3.5GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) provided by BYD, supported by USD 270 million in financing. This system allows excess solar energy to be stored and dispatched during peak demand hours, enhancing grid stability and facilitating greater integration of renewable energy.

The full project comprises 2GW of solar capacity and 11GWh of storage, making it one of the world’s largest PV + storage clusters.
