China’s electric vehicle (EV) industry has reached a new milestone! According to Rhodium Group, in 2023, Chinese EV and supply chain companies invested around USD 16 billion overseas, surpassing domestic investment of USD 15 billion for the first time, with 74% directed toward battery manufacturing.
Overseas investment accelerates: As the domestic market becomes saturated, Chinese companies are rapidly expanding EV and battery plants abroad.
Clear strategic shift: CATL has declared “global expansion” as its top priority.
Southeast Asia as the key battleground: With its robust automotive supply chain and supportive clean energy policies, Thailand is attracting increasing Chinese EV investment, positioning itself as a regional hub for EV and battery manufacturing.
