Amid the global energy transition, Thailand is advancing its Smart Energy & Energy Storage blueprint. According to Krungthai Compass, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has included a 600 MW Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project in its PDP2024 plan, scheduled to begin construction in 2032 and commence operation by 2035.

 

The project will play a key role in enhancing Thailand’s smart energy and storage ecosystem:

 

Delivering long-term stable power to support the integration of solar, wind, and other intermittent renewables;

 

Reducing the burden on large-scale storage systems, allowing storage to focus on peak shaving and flexible dispatch;

 

Driving innovation and investment across storage systems, smart grids, and energy technologies, improving overall efficiency.

 

It is expected to generate THB 780 billion in electricity revenue and create over THB 43 billion in opportunities for the smart energy and storage supply chain, further strengthening Thailand’s regional leadership in Smart Energy & Energy Storage.

 

This milestone represents more than just energy diversification—it marks a strategic upgrade of Thailand’s smart energy and storage system, laying the foundation for decades of clean energy, secure power, and sustainable growth.

ท่ามกลางการเปลี่ยนผ่านพลังงานทั่วโลก ประเทศไทยกำลังก้าวหน้าในการพัฒนา Smart Energy & Energy Storage อย่างเป็นระบบ โดยการไฟฟ้าฝ่ายผลิตแห่งประเทศไทย (กฟผ.) ได้บรรจุโครงการ Small Modular Reactor (SMR) กำลังผลิต 600 เมกะวัตต์ไว้ใน แผน PDP2024 ซึ่งคาดว่าจะเริ่มก่อสร้างในปี 2575 และเดินเครื่องเชิงพาณิชย์ในปี 2578

 

โครงการนี้จะมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อ การยกระดับระบบพลังงานอัจฉริยะและการกักเก็บพลังงานของไทย ได้แก่:

 

สร้างความมั่นคงด้านพลังงานระยะยาว รองรับพลังงานหมุนเวียน เช่น แสงอาทิตย์และลม

 

ลดภาระของระบบกักเก็บพลังงานขนาดใหญ่ ทำให้กักเก็บพลังงานมุ่งเน้นที่การจัดการโหลดสูงสุดและการจ่ายไฟที่ยืดหยุ่น

 

กระตุ้นนวัตกรรมและการลงทุนในระบบกักเก็บพลังงาน โครงข่ายไฟฟ้าอัจฉริยะ และเทคโนโลยีด้านพลังงานอื่น ๆ เพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพโดยรวม

 

คาดว่าโครงการนี้จะสร้างรายได้ไฟฟ้าสูงถึง 7.8 แสนล้านบาท และโอกาสทางธุรกิจมากกว่า 4.3 หมื่นล้านบาท ในห่วงโซ่อุตสาหกรรมพลังงานอัจฉริยะและการกักเก็บพลังงาน ส่งเสริมให้ไทยก้าวขึ้นเป็นผู้นำระดับภูมิภาคด้าน Smart Energy & Energy Storage

 

ก้าวสำคัญครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงเป็นการกระจายแหล่งพลังงาน แต่ยังเป็น การอัปเกรดระบบพลังงานอัจฉริยะและการกักเก็บพลังงาน ที่จะวางรากฐานสำหรับพลังงานสะอาด ความมั่นคงทางไฟฟ้า และการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนในอนาคต
