August 15th ASEE International News | Banpu Launches "Energy Symphony" Strategy to Address AI Data Center Energy Challenges!
At the Techsauce Global Summit 2025 in Bangkok, Banpu CEO Sinon Vongkusolkit unveiled the "Energy Symphony" strategy, balancing traditional and sustainable energy sources to meet the massive, stable power demands of data centers in the AI era and accelerate the transition to clean energy.
Global AI data centers consume staggering amounts of electricity—a single facility can power 100,000 households. UN Secretary-General Guterres has called for 100% renewable energy by 2030, and Japan has launched the "Watt-Bit Collaboration" initiative to coordinate data center construction with renewable energy deployment, though challenges remain, such as site selection, power stability, and construction cycles.
Banpu has operations in nine countries, including natural gas and carbon capture and storage (CCS), low-carbon mining, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), aiming to leverage the AI data center boom to optimize the global energy mix. Sinon emphasized that this presents both pressure for energy transition and new opportunities for renewable energy investment.
Southeast Asia is emerging as a new hub for the convergence of energy storage, clean power generation, and data centers!

ในงาน Techsauce Global Summit 2025 ที่กรุงเทพฯ คุณศิโนน ว่องกุศลกิจ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร บ้านปูฯ ได้เปิดเผยกลยุทธ์ "Energy Symphony" เพื่อสร้างสมดุลระหว่างแหล่งพลังงานแบบดั้งเดิมและพลังงานที่ยั่งยืน เพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการพลังงานมหาศาลและมีเสถียรภาพของศูนย์ข้อมูลในยุค AI และเร่งการเปลี่ยนผ่านสู่พลังงานสะอาด
ศูนย์ข้อมูล AI ทั่วโลกใช้พลังงานไฟฟ้ามหาศาล โดยศูนย์ข้อมูลเพียงแห่งเดียวสามารถจ่ายไฟให้กับครัวเรือนได้ถึง 100,000 ครัวเรือน เลขาธิการสหประชาชาติ กูเตอร์เรส เรียกร้องให้ใช้พลังงานหมุนเวียน 100% ภายในปี 2030 และญี่ปุ่นได้เปิดตัวโครงการ "Watt-Bit Collaboration" เพื่อประสานการก่อสร้างศูนย์ข้อมูลกับการใช้พลังงานหมุนเวียน แม้ว่าจะยังมีความท้าทายอยู่ เช่น การเลือกสถานที่ ความเสถียรของพลังงาน และวงจรการก่อสร้าง
