Yunnan Energy Investment Group’s Yunnan Energy International (Laos) New Energy Company and Laos’ National Power Company (EDL) Hold Signing Ceremony in Vientiane
On March 1st, Yunnan Energy International (Laos) New Energy Company, a subsidiary of Yunnan Energy Investment Group, and Laos’ National Power Company (EDL) held a signing ceremony in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The two parties signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and the Commercial Operation Date (COD) certificate for the first phase of the 50.1MW Sekong Solar Project in Khammouane Province, marking the official commencement of the project’s operational phase. From the Nam Theun 1 Hydropower Station to the Laos-Cambodia Border Transmission Project, and now to the 50.1MW Sekong Solar Project (Phase I), as well as the upcoming pipeline of solar projects, these achievements highlight the solid foundation and bright future of collaboration between the two sides.
As more similar projects move forward, cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the field of new energy will continue to deepen. Through technology sharing, financial support, and joint project development, both sides will work together to build a green energy corridor, supporting the ASEAN region in achieving its energy transition and carbon neutrality goals. This will not only promote sustainable economic development in the region but also contribute more "Chinese wisdom" and "ASEAN strength" to the global fight against climate change.
